I'll be
taking it down sometime this week. I'll still be around reading and
will likely post comments as GinaMS.
wouldn't get rain yesterday. Soon after lunch I looked out to see the
sky looking pretty dark. A few minutes later I started seeing big rain
drops on the deck. I flew outside grabbing my nearly dry clothes and
stuffing them into the basket. I got inside just before the skies
opened up. It then rained *hard* for the next hour.

Not much happening today. We need to get to the store for things like
milk, bread, yogurt, cereal and of course WW friendly ice cream. I
swear I'm addicted to Edy's Sugar Free. The Fudge Tracks flavor is to
die for! The little 1/2 cup serving is the highlight of my day. Someone
at my WW meeting shared the other night that the Kroger Light Ice Cream
bars are only 2 pts. I'm boycotting Skinny Cows because they changed
their formula and now they are 3 pts instead of 2. Not nice. I can
justify 2 pts for a treat but 3 makes me think harder.

So that's my story on ice cream. Big deep thoughts here today on SitcomMom.
site. You would think all the time I've spent there I would have found
it by now. If you haven't read there, try it but its addicting. Truly
addicting. I would sign up my own there but as you may have noticed, I
have a hard time getting here to update.

I told Lori this morning that I was trying to be on the computer less
these days. Yeah well that's apparently over. I've been on and off all
day. I did however get some work done so I earned this. Right? Right.
Go with that.

What I got on here to tell all of you is this....I'm picking Lori,
Friend Husband and darling babies from the airport when they return
from Ethiopia. How cool is that??? I must make a mental note to control
myself though. I don't want these poor children to remember someday
that one of their first experiences in the US was with this crazy lady
oohing and ahhing in their faces gushing about how adorable they are.
Oh I'll still ooh, ahh and gush but I'll try to be more reserved.
this morning for awhile and complained about my lack of motivation. Hey
Lori, while I'm thinking about it, you need to change your blog to
Immax5. FIVE kids. 1-2-3-4-5! FIVE of em! I just like to see that
little vein her head throb. Before any
of you think I'm being mean, understand that Lori and I joke around a
lot. We both know the other one is messing around. I am so very happy
for her and can't wait to meet her new babies.

Anyway my lack of motivation. Its bad. Very bad. It took me until 10:10
this morning to get dressed. I wandered into the computer and its now
11:25. So much for my vow that I was going to get back into doing
Flylady and organize school this week.

I have indeed put my name into to WW to start working for them. There
isn't an opening at my meeting right now but we're fairly centrally
located so that I could be open to several meetings within a
respectable amount of drive time. Last night after my meeting I went
out to eat with three WW employees. I said "so what's it like to work
for WW?" They said its like being a prize fighter. What? They get
weighed once a month for Lifetime status and then weighed again at
every monthly meeting. If you're over, no more work for you until you
lose it. Yikes. I'm doing this to keep myself honest and I think it
will work nicely!

I didn't lose. I did however stay exactly the same as last week. Right
down to the same tenth of a pound. How strange is that? Two more weeks
and then I'm a Lifetimer!
I tend
to get the first song I hear stuck in my head all day. This is what I
heard today from the Christian radio station. Its called Grace Like
Rain by Todd Agnew.

Amazing grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now am found.
Was blind but now I see so clearly

Hallelujah! Grace like rain falls down on me
Hallelujah! All my stains are washed away, washed away

Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
and grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
the hour I first believed

Hallelujah! Grace like rain falls down on me
Hallelujah! All my stains are washed away, washed away

When we've been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun
We've no less days to sing your praise
than when we've first begun

Hallelujah! Grace like rain falls down on me
Hallelujah! All my stains are washed away, washed away

**So in other SitcomMom news....I've got a hair appointment at 1 today.
I don't know what to do. DH wants it longer. I want it short. I go to a
girl from our church. I think I'll go early and look at her books for
ideas. Its one of the most expensive salons in the area so I try to
stick with just the basics. I would love to get highlights but can't
justify the cost.

Other than that nothing happening today. Its rainy and yuck. Our
library is having a party all day with cake and ice cream. I promised
the kidlets we would stop there after my haircut. We'll go to the Y
tonight to exercise. I feel like maybe I've lost this week. Maybe not.
I'm being very conscious of getting all my H2O and fruit/veg in this
week.

Have a great day!
Tuesday, July 12, 2005

Lots to update!

The mouse is dead. We got him late Friday night. We've set the traps
every night since but haven't caught anything so that must have been
it. I cleaned and painted the closet. DH got the hardwood inside it
done last night. We did hardwood earlier this spring but that closet
and the coat closet still needed to be done. I'm hoping to get the coat
closet done by the end of the month.

I wrote a rather angry e-mail to the district manager for our trash
service. They responded yesterday with an offer to give us one of their
big 96 gallon wheeled cans for free as long as we remain their
customer. We took them up on it. We had it all lined up to start
burning trash but its so much more work to haul the plastic, glass and
tin than to just bag it up and let them take it.

Last week at WW I lost 2.6 lbs on my first week of maintenance. I
gained .8 last night. Not a big deal. I think the difference was last
week I weighed in first thing in the morning instead of my usual 5:30
p.m. After the meeting last night I went out to dinner with the WW
receptionists. Awhile back I asked about working for them once I got to
goal. It doesn't look like its going to work out. The woman they
thought was leaving decided to stay. Oh well. They asked me to come out
to eat with them every week. It was a lot of fun so I know I'll look
forward to that each week.

I got up at 6:30 a.m. intending to work on lesson plans. Its now nearly
8 a.m. and I've done nothing. The internet sucked me in! We have
dentist appointments today at 1. I better get moving so I can get
something accomplished today.
Not about the mouse. About our trash pickup.

We've had nothing but trouble with them since we bought this house
three years ago. Trouble to the point that our attorney neighbor got
involved. Today I saw they had attached an orange sticker to one of our
cans. It said "please get new cans". Our cans are broken because their
employees broke them. I refuse to buy new only to have them broken
again. I called their customer service line and got the run around. I
just e-mailed the district manager (not like I think that will help)
and told her I would be telling my blog readers about my experiences
with her company. So here ya go.

Cincinnati readers....its Rumpke.
If you have the choice of trash companies in your part of town, choose
someone else. I've added this story to our personal family blog and
will encourage my husband to put it on his blog that has *serious*
Cincinnati readership. I had trouble with another company awhile back
and told them if they didn't correct it, I would be putting it on the
Internet. That got the problem fixed right away. Bloggers have a lot of
power. Don't be afraid to exercise it.

Way back when I worked for a large legal research company. One of my main
duties was to troll the Internet looking for people misuing the company
trademarks and also to see what if anything was being said about the
company. You would be surprised at the influence that had on the Big
Whigs.

Get out there! Make a difference! Terrorize a business that gives bad service!
Friday, July 08, 2005

Oh my ladies, we have a mouse in the house. Its been in our pantry!

I called my husband at work to tell him about the mouse and he
suggested we get a real cat. Can you tell he's not a big fan of our
cat? How I my Jazzy but he's
the laziest thing. I'm emptying everything out and cleaning the
shelves. Jazz wandered into the closet, sniffed around and went to take
a nap. I don't think he's going to be any help.

I had just bought groceries the other night. I'm so thankful that there
wasn't alot of food in there while we were gone and also that they/it
hadn't started on the already open boxes of food in the kitchen. The
only thing I've found that it got into was a box of graham crackers.
The yicky thing is it left mouse droppings all over. Shudder.

Well I've had it on my summer project list to clean and paint that
closet. I've been putting it off but I think it will get done today and
tomorrow!

You would think after making these treks north to family for the last
13 years, I would have this down to a science. Its actually a lot
better than it used to be. Simply not having baby stuff to drag along
is a huge space/time saver!

I planned on squeezing another Y workout in today. I'm not sure though.
I've been really sore since my last workout on Tuesday. I was up in the
night last night with shooting pain in my thigh muscles. I'm leaning
toward doing a DVD here. However if I go to the Y there's free
babysitting. There's also a mocha frapp from the Y coffee house. Also
if I stay home the reality is I probably won't get it done. I know
myself too well!

Have a great holiday weekend. Stay safe! See ya on Tuesday.
I dunno. I got in a blog funk. I felt like this was taking up
a lot of my time. It doesn't really I guess. It just felt like it KWIM?

So my goal story goes like this...I've been losing and gaining the same
pound since mid May. My leader decided to get to the bottom of this and
started asking me questions. She asked me if I was sure on my height.
Pretty sure although admittedly I haven't measured myself since high
school. They found a yard stick and I learned I'm an inch taller than I
thought. That inch gives me five extra pounds and put me at goal the
previous week! I'm hoping to lose a little more with maintenance. My
leader thought I maybe wasn't eating enough given the amount of
exercise I do. I upped my points and went harder at the gym yesterday.
I would like to lose another 5 lbs. Although I think Weight Watchers is
a great organization, I plan to never ever give them another dime after August 1st!

Speaking of August 1st...my daughter's 5th birthday is July 31st.
Because I have to weigh in for Lifetime status the next day, there will
be no birthday celebration for me. I think I'll put a piece of cake
aside to enjoy *after* weigh in.

This makes my total weight loss from highest to current at somewhere
around 85 pounds. I went from a size 24 to a 8/10. I've lost about 15 inches off my hips. Bra size has went from a 46DD to a
34D. In the weirdest change I've went from a size 9 shoe to a 7
1/2. Who knew feet could get fat?

I'm finding maintenance a little scary right now. I've got 4 extra
points or approximately 200 extra calories a day. Yeah I'm living big! Intellectually I know I'm not gaining it back on that amount but its still intimidating.

I see the breast specialist at 3 p.m. today. Blech. I need to call my
insurance agent. Double blech. I've got several other calls to make
that I've been putting off. Triple blech. I don't normally
procrastinate for this very reason--it piles up. I'm going to dive in
and get it off my mind.
